me and my valentine and its history

valentine day...ya...it is believed that that day is the day where lovers express their feelings....that day also man, guys, boys spend their money twice more than woman!!!!!or maybe more!!!!!!! during valentine day also i keep on receiving many types of text messages.....such as, "type on cinta" bla3......that's a normal thing...advertisements...duh!!!!besides that kind of message, i also receive messages that sounds religious...such as, Muslims should not celebrate valentine day as it is the day were many Muslims were killed on February the 14th...which is valentine day...i was boring....so i did some research on valentine day...i wanted to investigate whether it is true or not that many Muslims were killed on valentine day....this is my result....i'll just gonna copy and paste it ok....to lazy to type....haha... :p

Every February 14th, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint and why do we celebrate this holiday?

We’ve found 2 different legends ... Enjoy!

The first legend, and perhaps the best known, began in Rome, when the Emperor, Claudius II, was involved in many bloody and unpopular campaigns. “Claudius the Cruel” as he was called, was having a difficult time getting soldiers to join his military leagues. He believed that the reason was that Roman men did not want to leave their loves or families. So, he cancelled all marriages and engagements in Rome!

The good Saint Valentine, who was a priest in Rome, in the year 269 A.D., together with his friend Saint Marius, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret.
When Valentine's actions were discovered, he was sentenced to be beaten to death with clubs and to have his head cut off.
But while in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl, who may have been his jailor's daughter, who visited him during his confinement. Before his death on the 14th day of February, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed

" From your Valentine"
In 496 A.D., Pope Gelasius set aside February 14 to honor St. Valentine.

Another legend says that Valentine's Day started ...
in ancient Rome, on February 14th, a holiday to honor Juno. Juno was the Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses. The Romans also knew her as the Goddess of women and marriage. Then, the following day, February 15th, began the Feast of Lupercalia.
In those days, the lives of young boys and girls were strictly separate. However, on the eve of the festival of Lupercalia, the names of Roman girls were written on slips of paper and placed into jars. Each young man would draw a girl's name from the jar and would then be partners for the duration of the festival with the girl whom he chose. Sometimes the pairing of the children lasted an entire year, and often, they would fall in love and would later marry.

In the United States, Miss Esther Howland is given credit for sending the first valentine cards. Commercial valentines were introduced in the 1800's and now ... well .. you know the rest....

I've read nothing or anything that involves the killing on many Muslim on the story of how valentine's day started.....was it just a story????well, only the one who knows the truths knows it...and its up to you people to judge it.....the bottom line is, although st.valentine involves a Christian martyr, the valentine celebration, i see it has nothing to do with religion.....it is more like a legend to me....why do we have to create propaganda about it?? i'm so confius...well, its just my opinion...the rest,its up to you to judge it.....

I've read many things that is interesting about valentine day....one of it is the valentine's day massacre...i looked at the title and i say, "interesting..."so, opened the page, i read it...the valentine massacre is about the crime of Al-Capone....maybe most of you or some of you don't know al-capone...al-capone is crime lord, a mob leader, a mafia, or in short, a godfather during the prohibition era of the 1920s and 1930s....capone runs gambling, prostitution, and bootlegging rackets...he continuously expands his territory by getting rid of rival gangs....capone fortune was estimated $ 60, 000, 000!!!!the valentine massacre is about a war between gangster rivals of Al "Scarface" Capone and George "Bugs" Moran in chicago...when the crime happen, capone claimed to be in Florida.....during the valentine massacre, capone claimed to be in florida...but he was the prime suspects of the massacre.....capone wanted to take down moran at any cost....he started by getting rid of Moran's outfit, leaving him defenseless......the pictures below are some of the valentine's day massacre tragedy....

st.valentine's day....many thing happens in that day.....that day is what people called lovers day......that day also tragedy happens....some people create propaganda on valentine's day.....some take valentine day as a day where many Muslims were killed.....but i can't find any evidence of it...was it true??or was it not......well, i don't know....i am sure that most Muslims know that if you make up stories, you'll end up making a big sin....what happen when you commit sin??of course Hell awaits you....all religion are like that....no matter Islam, Christian, Buddhist etc, it doesnt matter, once you commit sin, Hell will surely awaits you.....i'm a Muslim...and i don't want the religion that i hold on to to be look badly by this kind of propaganda.....i beg to you people, don't make up stories that could make your religion look bad....valentine day has nothing to do with religion or a ritual of a religion....its a celebration of love towards your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, in short, partners...you don't have to celebrate it if you don't want to...its an option....not a must....the history of valentine day, well, i don't take it as history, as you people who CAN READ, its a legend....and everyone knows that legends and fairytale s are the same thing......history and legends are two different things....history is based on facts....legends is based on fairytale s.....so, we should relied on facts....well...what can i say...humans....they like to make small matters into big matters....its up to you people to decide....what i say just now is just my opinion....i've done my research about valentine, and the thing that i type above is the result of my research.....maybe some of you might say "dude, do more research...."ok, i admit, i'll do more research....but the thing i type above are some of the thing about valentine day that maybe you people should know...i'm not trying to create propaganda ok...i do it based on research and facts.......one more thing, legends are not facts....history is based on facts.....no offense ok... ^^
